We have been so lucky to come across Strong Hearts Cat Rescue after seeing an adoption day poster at our local Pet Shop and it was from that moment on that we began our family's journey into fostering cats. We always wanted to foster, but lots of travel for work prevented me from doing it in the past. It's been amazing to see how this team of volunteers save cats from the pound's death list every week and give them a new, loving and most of all safe life.

Strong Hearts Sanctuary was founded over ten years ago, by two sisters - Michayla and Jess. It started as a rescue for farmed animals, but has since expanded to become a rescue for dogs, cats and very recently even rabbits as well!

We have looked after cats in distress before, one of such cats was a black beauty that we nicknamed "Duchess". Duchess was a very regal black scottish fold that stayed with us for almost 6 weeks escaping a domestic violence situation. Our resident cat Odin only warmed up to her in the last few weeks before she had to go back to her original owners once the environment was safe again.

We came to the adoption event "just to have a look at the cute kittens" as my daugter stated. But before we knew it we ended up submitting a Foster Application and taking two tuxedo adult cats home, Bobert and Broccolini.

Bobert is such a musculine gorgeous boy. He is very tolerant of playful kitties and unwanted pats, and like my daughter says "a perfect big brother". He will be a loyal companion (if you feed him enough) and loves to keep you company while you work or cook. He's the perfect mix of energy and stubborn sweetness, so if you're looking for an entertaining buddy to bring some light into your life, Bobert is the cat for you! He allows for handling, patting and loves to sleep near you at night; and the best part is he purrs like a tractor! 

Broccolini is like his younger brother (they are not related, but a we'd say like a bonded pair). True to sibling dynamics, Broccolini annoys the older Bobert with his energy and when Bobby has had enough they roughhouse, but always make up very quickly and Broccolini will groom Bobert in apology. Although Bobby might never admit it, he is quite protective over little Broccolini and is the first to stand up for him when he is frightened in typical older brother fashion.

Broccolini is a curious youngster just over a year old that is full of energy and lights up the room with his affectionate and loving nature. Broccolini craves attention and will happily be your lap cat as he curls up to sleep in your arms after a long day of playing. He likes to be carried princess-style as we've recently discovered! And is an absolute fiend for some good chin scratches and even belly rubs. Listen to him purr! His purrs are very loud (but I dare say not as loud as Bobert!)

Odin The Ragdoll is still very concerned with the pair, and sniffs his territory thorougly after they've played or sat in his favourite spots. We are hoping that he will come to welcome them some day, but in the meantime we keep them separate as much as we can as they take turns exploring the house.

We have really come to love the tuxedo pair and are willing to waive the adoption fee for one of them if someone is willing to adopt them together as they really are such a charming duo. We really think they will have a higher quality of life living with another cat to play with when the owners are out especially for the young Broccolini who is quite social - and who better to live with than the tuxedo friend you've been fostered with!
